How to Get CIMAvax-EGF From the USA, Canada or Abroad
“Can I get CIMAvax-EGF from the USA or Canada?” and “Is the Cuban cancer vaccine available in my country?” are questions we hear often. In short: wherever you live, we help you reach the vaccine by sending your file to Cuba.

Wherever you live
Can I get CIMAvax-EGF from the USA or Canada?
Yes. CIMAvax-EGF has been in use in Cuba under licence since 2008 and Vaxira since 2013; Vaxira is also licensed in Argentina. For patients applying from the USA, Canada, Europe or any other country, we coordinate access to the vaccine through Cuba: your file goes to the oncologist in Cuba and treatment starts there.
The vaccines are given in Cuba under the supervision of doctors experienced in oncology care. After the start, the doctor plans continued treatment together with you.
The route
How does applying from abroad work?
- 01
Your file is reviewed in Cuba
You send your documents through the secure application area. We prepare your file, translate it into Spanish and send it to the licensed oncologist in Cuba, who decides whether you are suitable.
- 02
If suitable, treatment starts in Cuba
After you receive the written opinion and plan, the decision is yours. If you decide to go ahead, the first doses are given in Cuba under a doctor’s supervision.
- 03
Continuation and follow-up are planned with the doctor
The vaccine programme can last for months. The treating doctor plans how continuation and check-ups are organised; this can be in your own country too.
- 04
Travel and accommodation are coordinated
The journey, your stay in Cuba and interpreter support are planned through coordination; we do not leave you alone with this.

Continued treatment
Why should continued treatment and follow-up be planned from the start?
With CIMAvax-EGF, a few induction doses are followed by monthly maintenance doses, and the programme can continue for months while the benefit lasts and the patient tolerates it. Treatment does not end with a single trip.
So before you travel it is good to get written answers to these questions: who will monitor you after the first doses, where will check-ups take place, and whom can you contact if there is a problem? We suggest sharing the answers, together with the Cuban doctor’s opinion, with your own oncologist. For the cost side, see Cuba lung cancer vaccine cost
Language
How do we help with communication and language?
Correspondence with the doctors in Cuba is in Spanish. We do the medical translation of your documents and pass the oncologist’s written opinion on to you in plain words in your language. If needed, we plan interpreter support through coordination while you are in Cuba.
The person who applies is the contact person. So even if the patient is abroad or in another city, a member of the family can run the process.
Preparation
What should someone applying from abroad prepare?
The more complete your file, the faster the assessment. These are the main documents to prepare.
- The pathology report and specimen details, if available
- Staging imaging (CT or PET-CT) and its reports
- Molecular and PD-L1 results, if available
- A list of all treatments given, with dates and the response
- Recent blood tests and the latest oncology note
Your documents can be in English, German, Turkish or another language; we do the translation. The person who applies is the contact person, and the patient does not need to give their own phone number or e-mail.
Why the file route?
Why do we first show your file to the oncologist in Cuba?
Because the oncologist who looks at your file sets suitability, the dose plan and the schedule. CIMAvax-EGF is given under the supervision of a doctor experienced in oncology care, so both treatment and follow-up are planned correctly from the start.
Preparing the file well also saves time: a complete file lets you get a faster and clearer opinion from the oncologist.
Made easier
How do we make the process easier for you?
- 01
One contact person
The person who applies is the contact person, and updates go to them. The patient does not need to give their own phone number or e-mail.
- 02
No language barrier
We translate your documents and pass the oncologist’s written opinion on to you in a language you understand.
- 03
A written plan
The oncologist’s opinion and the proposed programme reach you in writing, so you can decide at your own pace.
Who is it for?
Who is this route meant for?
The vaccines were developed for patients diagnosed with advanced non-small cell lung cancer who have completed first-line treatment. In the assessment the oncologist looks at the diagnosis and stage, molecular test results (EGFR, ALK, ROS1, PD-L1), general condition and other illnesses, and builds the most suitable plan from them. The oncologist assesses whether it suits you and how much benefit you may expect. You can read what the studies found in CIMAvax success rate: what the studies say
